Hong Kong has many popular residential areas. It is important to establish your own priorities before starting your home search. Points to consider include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Access to place of employment
  • Schools
  • Transportation
  • Commuting time
  • Proximity to amenities

As with most cities, the further you live from the city centre, the less expensive the rental will generally be.


Most accommodation in Hong Kong is let unfurnished. Some Landlords provide Tenants with major electrical appliances such as air-conditioning, washing machine and refrigerator etc. Landlords provide furniture or additional appliances only if the Tenant agrees to accept a higher rental. 


There are four main types of accommodation in Hong Kong:

1. Apartments
Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated cities in Asia. It is dominated by high-rise residential apartment blocks comprised of single storey units with layouts ranging from one to four bedrooms, one to three bathrooms, a combined living/dining room, kitchen and quite often, but not always, maid’s quarters and a utility room, Studio ats are available and are popular amongst single occupants whose business requires frequent travel outside of Hong Kong.
